Why 7 Before 7?
Life is an adventure – and school should be one, too!
It is essential that our children can read, write and calculate to the expected level for their age, but here at Burrsville Infant Academy, school has always been about so much more: Creating a joy in learning.
Think back – what do you remember about your primary school days? Was it phonics lessons or learning how to do long division? Or was it a brilliant school trip where you camped under the stars? Or built a raft and crossed a lake? Or built and launched rockets from the playground?
These opportunities beyond the classroom – the memorable experiences that you just never forget – happen in every school. What’s different here at Burrsville is that we have curated a set of promises that EVERY pupil is entitled to.
We are ambitious for our children to have broad horizons and high aspirations. We want our pupils to be inspired and challenged so that each one develops their unique potential to the full.
REAch2 ‘11 Before 11’ programme which we have adapted to create our special '7 Before 7' Burrsville programme, is the way we do this: seven promises that help our children to be in the driving seat in their own lives. It will enable all Burrsville children to:
- Enjoy the great outdoors
- Experience the arts
- Embrace new cultures
- Challenge their adventurous spirit
- Stretch their comfort zone
- Build new life skills
- Support the community within which they live
- Become a citizen of the future
7 Before 7 takes our children beyond the usual, to explore new opportunities and inspire them to be the heroes of their own adventure. We are incredibly proud of 7 Before 7. We know the impact that it has had so far, and will continue to invest in delivering on our promises, so that every child’s school experience is exceptional and memorable for all the right reasons.
We want to share with you a video that has been produced as part of the promotion of 11 before 11. Whilst the video may only show what is happening in a handful of our schools, we have seen evidence of the true commitment of our staff across all schools.
